Double Nickels

Bob celebrated a significant birthday this fall. All he wanted for a treat was a homemade chocolate cream pie and, of course, grilled steaks for dinner. It seems that all of us default to steaks for our birthday dinner so we have them about four times a year.
Farmer Girl made the pie and both girls added all of the candles. It was quite a flaming fire :)
For his birthday, he got hedge trimmers which is what he wanted.  For days, all of us pondered why? because we don't really have any hedges to be trimmed. However, when he pointed out the relative ease of battery operated trimmers for keeping up with our many trails as well as overhanging branches and shrubs along our driveway, we saw the need for them too. Always thinking of what can make the work easier for him and others, this is what he chose although we wanted to get him something for himself! The Graduate and Bob spent some fun time going out and using them Sunday afternoon. It's the little things in life that make us happy :)

We enjoyed a relaxing day together, except for the hedge trimming, and enjoyed steaks that Bob grilled (I wish he would choose something that I could make well for him. It seems wrong that HE has to make his dinner! :)) and pie in the evening. We didn't get a really good picture of him blowing out his candles (the girls put one tricky one in the middle that wouldn't blow out).

This was a better picture of both us taken a few days later after a beautiful evening drive up a mountain (more about that later). Farmer Girl took this and I thought she captured us well, even the wrinkles and grey hair on both. Thanks for being here for me, for us. We love you, dad!
