Curly Christmas Locks

Farmer Girl has been asking for curls for months. She was in a special rush this last month (December) because of the upcoming dance in early January. A dear friend who cuts and perms her own daughters' hair offered to do it since she had the supplies and the expertise. So, sandwiched between Christmas and New Year's, we spent the afternoon at her home, tying up her kitchen and taking away from her family, getting curls for Christmas!
Here is a great shot of her all rollered up! I posted this one on Facebook in the evening when we got home and she was horrified. She immediately changed her profile picture so not many friends got to see it. I thought she looked rather cute and couldn't figure out what all the stink was about!
Rinsing her hair.

Close up of the colorful rods that are normally used for long hair.
It was neat how they worked and how easy they were to roll up and connect.

Beginning the long process of removing rods and revealing the curls.

Success: CURLS
Her hair looked great when we were all done although the curls did diminish over the next few days. It did add more body and when she curls it with the iron, they seem to stay in longer. Now, she is actually biding her time until the curls have grown out so she can get it cut short (she wants to donate to Locks for Love) for the summer.....Teen girls can be so fickle sometimes, huh? Perhaps after she cuts it, we will perm again and get curlier locks!
