My girls have participated in the AWANA (Aprroved Workmen Are Not Ashamed) Program for many years, having completed all of their books offered at the local church sponsor. Currently, they both participate in the Junior High and High School program, but on a more personal level. It is supported by the church, but two of our homeschool moms are the leaders and we only meet every other week. It was started to fill a need for all of those who graduated. When started over several years ago, they met in homes with dinner, Bible study and memorization. It grew so large that we have since stopped the dinners and moved to a church facility. We are currently doing the Bible Study "Experiencing God". There is also memorization of verses from AWANA books, singing and prayer time. It is very special to see all of these teen girls (12-25 girls at any given time) singing and praising God.
In addition to this, many of them are leaders or leaders in training for the younger kids at the meetings every Wednesday evening. Farmer Girl, having completed all of her books and received her Timothy Award last year, is an L.I.T. for Cubbies (3 and 4 year olds). She absolutely loves it. She was in charge of games and sometimes crafts. She loves little children and has a real gift for being with them. The Scribbler has done both Cubbies and Sparkies for over 5 years since she graduated after receiving her Timothy Award as well. She is currently helping with Sparkies. Both of them were blessed to be present at the award night, standing on stage with their group.
In Farmer Girl's group, there are almost as many leaders as Cubbies!

It was so nice to see all these little children singing songs and reciting verses learned throughout the year. Many of these teens have been leaders as long as The Scribbler and even longer.

This was the entire AWANA group including Cubbies, Sparkies and Truth in Training.

What an awesome time to see the student's devotion to learning God's word and to see the leaders devotion to teaching the Word. It was an incredible evening. We are blessed to live in such a community as this.
Thanks for listening.
Love Ellie~
