Surprise!

Last week, we had the opportunity to entertain at our house which made it really feel like a home. The Scribbler arranged a surprise party for her very best friend, Peacemaker, who had turned 17 three weeks prior to this. Her birthday had gotten lost in the shuffle of an overnight band festival and the week away at Teenpact by many of the group including Peacemaker and The Scribbler. The Scribbler sent out e-invites reminding everyone to keep it all hush hush. Our ploy to get her here included a dinner invite for the entire family. We wanted to insure nothing would give the surprise away as she had told her mom, "I don't think anyone could ever surprise me." The invited guests arrived at the appointed time and awaited her arrival. They all gathered at the entrance to pounce on her with an exclamation of "surprise!" I think it truly worked. She said she didn't have any idea, well, maybe a little inkling........

The group of girls gathered around our island with mounds of food. It felt good to entertain and to have people in the house filling it with laughter and conversation.

The birthday girl's mom and dad, dear friends to us all. Don't they look great together!???

The Scribbler did a lot of work to pull this off. I told her with all that was going on with the house, she was on her own for the most part. She made the pizzas with some help, decorated, did the invites, cleaned the house and made the cake from scratch. It was a strawberry cake with whipped cream and strawberry icing. She actually made two, one with coconut added as well. Here is the birthday girl getting ready to blow out her candles as they all sang happy birthday.

The rest of the evening was filled with games, skits and a special time of blessing her with prayer. All these girls contributed to the success of this surprise and it was fun to spend the evening with them. Thanks for coming. We love you, Peacemaker. Hope it was fun!

Happy birthday again,
Love Miss Ellie~ :)

  1. Hey, I figured out how to comment, maybe? This was a great party, and great pictures! I love the one of them (Peacemaker and Scribbler) in the window hole.
    Thanks again,
