Waiting on Tile

Currently, our days are spent working on tile or "waiting" on tile. However, today, marked the end of our tiling days. We finished tiling the mudroom and were able to put our tools away, return the tile cutter and get ready for grouting. Also, our hired tiler arrived for a second day of work. On Monday, he put in the 1/2 inch backer board (after Bob removed the inappropriate 1/4 inch backer board). I didn't get a picture. On Tuesday, Bob "redguarded" the walls and floor for waterproofing. That is what you see peeking out above the tile below. Today, our tiler with a helper tiled the walls to this point. Our tile is 16 inch Cortina (kind of funny since our door levers are also called Cortina) interspersed with an accent 6 inch tile. Also, we added some glass cubes for a border that you see here. He had to stop for the day once he reached this point because you can't tile above the glass tile until it is dry.
This is a better picture of our accent tile, glass border and shelf.
This is the room Bob and I finished today. It still needs to be grouted but our tiler said he would show him how to do it as well as show him the appropriate consistency of the grout for better workability. Better yet, he offered to re-do the grout in our bathroom FOR FREE! YEAH.

One last picture of our bathroom door WITH a doorknob/lever, a Cortina. Bob went ahead and put it in even though he will have to remove it when we paint the door. It looks all finished and homey, huh? All of my doorknobs arrived last night and, in addition to the aforementioned problem that was my fault, three of the knobs for upstairs have the wrong inside knob. So, I am hoping they will give me some mercy on my mistake when I have to send them all back and not charge me re-stocking and shipping fees! Awaiting an email as we speak.........

Thanks for listening. More to come with the finished shower........

Love Ellie~
