Irony

Definition of irony: being homeschooled your entire life and when you take a college level class, expecting to have a lab on campus, finding out that your lab will be at home, using an ordered Labpaq.

The Graduate is taking a chemistry class on line, but expected that her lab would be on campus. Imagine our surprise, when she found out that she would be doing what she has done her entire life! Lab in the kitchen!
This one, so far, has been a bit more intense and interesting. This was her second one. It involved chemical and physical reactions using chemicals like Hydrochloric acid and others. The first one was just on measurements of mass, weight, volume and the like. Both informal. She has 5 more and 3 that are "Formal" lab reports. Not sure what that will entail, but there are lots more chemicals in the box!
I think she rather enjoys the mixing and the measuring.....
Perhaps I should keep the fire extinguisher handy?

She is loving her chemistry and doing well in it. Classes started while she was still in Turkey. Arrangements with professors had been made to make sure she could do what needed to be done on line or via email, also  including her Pre-Calculus class. She did what was required for the first week in one entire day on-line! The rest of that week, she was traveling and recovering from jetlag and being sick. Prior to departing from here in November, she had retaken her assessment test for placement and had tested into Trigonometry. Our relief was shortlived as she has found that her foundational algebra skills are somewhat lacking. We are re-evaluating if she will stick with Pre-calculus OR drop so she can focus on a intensive review of algebra. There is also the possibility that she can take the algebra on campus if the professor who teaches it also will allow her as well as the college. I don' t know if that kind of thing is allowed......With all the snow days, the decision has been in limbo. We are anxious to finalize our choices this week and move on. In the meantime, chemistry is almost enjoyed as it appeals to her logical and analytical mind. :)
