Chillin' at Chelan

After a summer consumed by Emma, political events, blueberry picking and Mexico, we were able to sneak away for a LOOOOONG weekend with friends; friends who we often try to to get away with at least once a summer and the same hiking friends  mentioned in previous posts which you may remember, recognize or know!

We had never been to this particular lake and tentatively hoped, expected warmer climes as it is typically warmer on this side of the state. It met our expectations in this way and many other ways AND we had a great time, but our initial day there was a bit chilly and windy as these photos attest!  We were determined to be at the water and enjoy the swimming opportunities although some of us were a bit chilled. That's OK though because we were surrounded by beautiful country, great friends, even some new friends and plenty to do and enjoy. Everyone had a great time........
........and it was great to warm up around the fire by the end of the day! (although one of us got a bit too close during dinner Saturday evening!  Our friend's youngest daughter who is the same age as our youngest fell into the fire when her chair tipped!  She was able to save herself using her hand to push herself up off the ring and, in the process, burnt her hand badly. However, we praise and thank God for keeping it from being worse than that. It was quite traumatic as the pain was quite severe. Bob was able to wash, clean and dress the wounds in her palm. She was also medicated through the night to keep the pain at a minimum.  We thought her fun was over, but the next day, she wore a glove while in the water and was able to enjoy the waterpark with the rest of us.  Now she is sorely disappointed that the scar is not more evident :))

But, getting back to our days,,,,,After our chilly inauguration to Chelan, the next day arrived sunny and warmer. We spent it at the lake, enjoying tubing and some attempts at waveboarding (I think that was the name......). Here are some wonderful shots catching the action.

This one was hilarious as Heather would put her fists up indicating faster, faster and Heidi would put hers DOWN indicating slower, slower......the spotters didn't know which to tell the driver!
This tube was great because you could stand in it although later they chose to try it laying across it.
Britt just wanted to go as fast as the driver could make it go.....he topped it at 30 mph, I believe.
This was later in their attempt to lay across and NOT fall off........
Bob looking a bit wary....or is that scared? (he always looks like this without his glasses.....comes from not being able to see...... :))
Is that delight or fear? Either way, we thought it quite funny. OOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHhhhhhhhhhhhh......
Our dear Scribbler almost losing it on the turn!
It was an incredible weekend. I wish I had more shots to show you of our time with friends and at the waterpark, perhaps even one of me!  It wasn't until we got home that I realized that I was not in any of the pictures on our camera! Isn't that sad? Fortunately, our friends have one of me by the fire so all of posterity will know that I was actually present. I was just the photographer :)
Thanks for sharing our weekend with us.
Love Ellie~
