Speaking of Graduation

If you have never attended a home school graduation, you have missed a beautiful thing.I have attended my share of them over the years and I have to say they are touching, memorable and, above all, God honoring.
It is a special time of thanking God for blessing that desire to homeschool. It is a time for remembering God's grace, mercy and provision. It is a time for giving Him the glory for all that He has done. It is a time when one always needs lots of tissues!
This past June three of our local home schooled girls graduated. One that had moved away was able to return and graduate with the girls she had grown up with and it was a special time for all of them. It always promises to be a time for laughing and sharing memories. At moments, it is lighthearted, but always heartfelt. It is always so much more than the handing of a diploma to a graduate amongst hundreds or thousands. There is a connection with the graduates and their parents as well as with the audience who share and who have watched them grow, sometimes participating in that growth, both emotionally and spiritually. There is always a special sharing time when parents talk of their child, now on the verge of adulthood,  and where others are allowed to share too. Some share memories creating pictures in your mind and some show pictures telling stories that make you wonder and rejoice in God's goodness, love, and mercy.

There is always laughter, always tears, and always gratefulness.

There is also sharing of accomplishments as well as entertainment, some from the graduates and some from their friends.

There is rejoicing and relief......

There is food, often prepared by the graduates to showcase their efforts, their abilities and their talents, always served by by friends with servants hearts who often do the clean up too!

And, at the end, there is always a celebration of friends, family, and faith.

Congratulations Class of 2010 (BELATED)

  1. Great post...great summary. I love the photo of Heather playing the piano. Can I have a copy sometime? I'm already looking forward to June 11th, when my firstborn, and your firstborn, and many others will graduate. I think the time will be bittersweet.
