On A Brighter Note

On a brighter note on Sunday, our friend, mother to eight, delivered her ninth child and sixth boy. We had made arrangements to come to the delivery with her permission and welcome. Our phone rang in the early hours of Sunday AM telling us they were on their way to the hospital. Typically, her labors are short so we rushed out of the house, intent on arriving there in time, but having over a 30 minute drive to get there. Surprisingly, we arrived with time to spare. Everyone was "waiting" in the waiting room-two grandmas and two sisters-while mom and dad were admitted and settled. Our arrival  upped the number to 7 and, unfortunately, they only allowed 4 in the room (they made an exception and allowed one extra due to both grandmas). We stayed in the waiting room, hoping to see him soon.
One sister, a friend of both my daughter's, called us every 10 minutes with updates. Contractions were worsening, but still many minutes apart. After several calls over an hour, we received a call that they were definitely stronger and the next call confirmed his blessed delivery at 8:15. Very soon, they allowed us entry into the delivery room. Entering the room, I was torn as to whether go to the precious baby or the mom, looking very well so soon after delivery!  He was too cute to resist.

Just minutes old, he weighed 7 pounds, 14 ounces.

A close up at this precious bundle. Love the hat!

He was passed around the room, the family graciously
allowing us the opportunity to hold him first!

Content to be held and passed around, he found his thumb.

The "line-up" of visitors awaiting their turn!

Mom FINALLY gets a moment to hold him and nurse him.

Grandma.

I absolutely LOVE this one. He looks like he is smiling!

The other grandma.

Oldest sister and friend.

Dad finally gets a turn too.

More close ups.

Sweet.

Holding him one more time.

Mom said he is going to grow up being comforted by a group of giggly
girls since he is being exposed to it right away..

Adorable.
What an amazing way to start the day! Thank you so much for allowing us into your special moment and celebration. We will always remember being there to welcome him into the world.
Welcome, baby. We love you all ready and can't wait to see the plans God has in store for you!!
