Laying Down on the Job
Laying down on the job, but his handy hammer and bamboo boards were never far from his grasp! Bob was just taking a much deserved break from his work. He is fond of saying that we have become very good at watching him work! We do try to help as much as we can, but he's the one who knows how to do stuff or can figure it out or is able to do it. Our job here was to be available and to decide the layout of the boards. The Scribbler also is able to work the saw so she measured at the end of each row and cut for him. That is why he was able to rest for a moment while she did the cutting in the other room! (I have threatened to put that shirt in a shadow box when we are done! I think he is wearing it in all the pictures!)
This was the beginning of the job yesterday afternoon. A friend allowed us to borrow the finish nailer and it works great to nail down the boards. He used the mallet to set it and to punch the nailer. Although he had to face nail the first row, once he figured it all out, it moved rather quickly. Actually, he may disagree with that statement or his back may beg to differ!
What we started yesterday, we completed today. OK...well, we completed as much as we could. It's another job that Bob is unable to call done. He can't finish it completely because we have no doors yet.......something that needs to be my priority this week although I am reluctant to choose. I can't decide between a shaker door or a five panel....or do I want wood or solid core MDF? Carved or pressed? But, anyway, I digress.

Here he is laying down on the job again! This time in the prone position! Once he got this close to the wall, he had to begin face nailing or risk hitting the wall with the mallet and denting the drywall.
Once we were done, Bob put the bed together again. Farmer Girl made it up with sheets and her comforter cover. She LOVES it and wanted to sleep out there tonight! Later, she actually went out there to hang out and actually fell asleep under the covers! She still needs some pillows-see the pillowcases strung across the bottom of the bed?
This light is so fun. They bend in all different directions and add some much needed light in her room. She purchased it with Christmas money from Grandma and Grandpa. Thanks!
What do you think we are doing next?
