Murphy Moved In

Are you familiar with Murphy at your house? You know? If anything can go wrong, it will? or perhaps better known as when it rains, it pours? Or perhaps, when it blows, it knocks trees down? We had a severe windstorm the other night, knocking out power all night. We started thinking about all the things outside in the yard like the ladder leaning against the garage. On investigation, we found it had all ready fallen, narrowly missing our BMW. In the morning, I was rather surprised not to see more branches and limbs down in our yard or driveway. It wasn't until today that Bob noticed this!

His beloved truck rack bent and damaged by the weight of a rather large tree!  We are thankful it did not dent the cab and we are hopeful that it can be repaired?  This poor truck has been tucked down near the woodpile for a while since it needs a new transmission. It has only been good for hauling things short distances on the property.  The other day, it wouldn't start so Bob spent some time getting the battery checked and charged. It was working and ready to haul some wood to the house when we had time. Now, I am not so sure how we will get that tree off?!  Perhaps, we will chainsaw it into pieces.........Bob said to look on the bright side, now we have more wood for the woodstove!
So, in addition to this, the pouring, how else did it rain at our house? Well, for well over a year, Bob has been nursing his bottom molar, contemplating extraction versus root canal. I have been setting aside every dollar I made doing foot care to pay for the root canal. We finally had enough (and are now saving for the crown.....) and on the day he went into the dentist, our dog, Griffin, beloved by some, but not all, had a veterinarian emergency.......
........An emergency that required surgery, abdominal surgery. This is him, status post surgery, without his "cone of shame", enjoying the snowstorm last week.  What did he do, you might ask? Well, he has an affinity for chewing or eating socks, rags and even underwear. So you guessed it, he ate one of those. Want to guess which? and how many? Give up? Well, it was underwear. Two. Tightly wound up in his stomach, preventing him from keeping anything down, subsequently throwing up his food over and over again. The x-ray revealed an unidentified mass in his stomach, at risk of moving into his intestines causing even further and worse damage if something was not done.  You might remember that he ate a kneesock this summer, but recognizing the potential consequences, we rushed him to the vets where he threw it up once medicated.   This, being unwitnessed, had moved too far along for that. Being the beloved family pet and The Scribbler's dog, we, of course, consented to the surgery.......he is recovering nicely. Bob says never again.......The vet says this will be a chronic problem.......Any ideas on prevention or training to keep it from  happening would be welcomed!

What else happened? Well, did I mention that Bob came home yesterday and showed me a cracked molar on the other side of his mouth? The Scribbler wants to know if we take out the bed in the spare room, will Murphy leave?
