Christmas Kitchen Chaos

Christmas Eve found us with a houseful of chefs, all afternoon, cooking dinner for the entire families. The oldest girls had chosen the menu with some input from us (parents) and had promised a gourmet meal to spoil and impress us :).
Working on the herb bread for dinner.

Pounding the chicken for the Cordon Blue-NOT a favorite job! Chicken bits were flying everywhere.

Ah, Perfecto!

One half of the team with the finished rolled chicken, prepared for chilling.

........and the other half!

The other two girls "chilling" at the other house

Mixing up a spread for the thinly sliced homemade French bread along with cucumber slices as an appetizer. We also had salmon dip and hot artichoke dip on chips.
Our gourmet salads of tossed greens, pecans, and mandarin oranges with raspberry vinaigrette (sans Feta cheese which was mistakenly forgotten)

The completed meal served by the girls: Chicken Cordon Bleu, steamed mixed veggies, and Garlic Parmesan Risotto garnished with a pecan and lettuce leaf. (due to lack of other garnishment)

The "youngers" preparing their Creme Brulee (recipe a la Pioneer Woman, of course.:) They also made Salty Caramel Brownies (also PW). One word of warning if you make the latter, prepare your guests for the surprise of the salty taste!

The dads caramelizing the creme brulee with a propane torch. Having too much fun.
Our goofy girls minus one. Where is she?

Dinner was lovely. We felt so pampered and well fed. I wish I had pictures of the dinner table and everyone who was there. It was very fun and there is talk of another dinner one day.
Thanks girls, it was wonderful!
