i can only imagine

Last night, Bob and friend were out working late into the evening on the electrical part of the house. It is getting dark around 7 now so lights are necessary inside to keep working. From our point of view in the garage, this was our view. I thought it was so cool to see the house all aglow from the outside. It gave it a real "homey" feel. I could only imagine what it will be like when we are actully inside it, living there with lights on etc. (sorry for the quality of the pictures, it was dark although there was an almost full moon). On the inside, is a whole other story as far as completion. Plumbing is almost done although we must have the PEX tubing put in the joists under the flooring yet...we are waiting on the manifold and other miscellaneous things. In the meantime, our friend, the electrician has been coming by almost daily to help Bob wire and do all that the electrical entails: placing the boxes, the cans and running "homeruns" from breaker to box (i'm not really up on the lingo) Last night, they nearly completed the upstairs. Lots of decisions to make regarding where to put the lights, what kind of lights, what kind of outlets, where to put the heaters in the upstairs rooms etc, where to put the smoke alarms, what kind of amps, volts etc. The other day we were in the house to clean up. Farmer Girl went in the room, the mudroom, and exclaimed, "wow, mom, did you see all these wires? How will they know what they all do?" (we had been gone all weekend so had missed all the progress inside).

During that same clean up time, The Scribbler, was sweeping and got banged up the forehead by this wire "contraption". It allows them to pull wire without someone having to unwind it all. You can see the the wiring and the plumbing in the girls' bathroom.
This is Bob, working hard in the mudroom although this time, he was working on something for the chickens. As it gets colder and darker sooner, they are needing light as well as some heat at night in their coop. They will be on a timer and, we hope, will extend their laying time. Farmer Girl is only getting about 6 eggs a day.
I have not been posting much and I apologize. We were hoping to have insulation done by now as well as drywall. Praying for mid month now. Bob is working nearly every day at his paying job although his work load is less so he is able to come home and work until dark or later.

We have been trying to stay on top of decisions and have been enjoying some of the shopping necessary for the finish work of the house. Recently, we found a washer and dryer. We knew we wanted front loaders and found a wonderful deal. The best thing about them is that they are RED!!! They are so pretty and I thought I would have to go practical (ie white) for cost reasons. However, we got a better deal on these. We found out they are actually spray painted in the Ford factory. I thought that was funny. We also ordered our range hood-a chimney wall mounted stainless steel one- and a new GE dual oven electric convection range. Both on the internet. Who would have thought you could order large appliances on the computer? It was another great deal and had a coupon! Can't wait until they get here although we are not ready for them yet. Met with the lighting specialist this week and we are awaiting the bid for the lights. She offered us contractor pricing so I hope it is within our price range. We found vanity lights, mirrors and a shower rod for the girls bathroom while shopping this past weekend. I also found a lovely quilt on clearance for our guest room and a new comforter for our master bedroom. The Scribbler was disappointed when she saw a comforter set in the store that she had picked out on the internet. It was cheaply made and poor quality, but still expensive. However, she found a beautiful one for 1/5th the price. She also found a headboard, a wrought iron scrolly thing, for her bed and her ceiling fan. I purchased a black granite double sink for the kitchen although I am not sure we will use it. It was another great deal and we saved sales tax on it as we did on all the other items too. We can take it back if we decide on stainless steel. As you can see we are making some progress on the previously posted to-do list. Will keep you posted.

Love Ellie~
