Eggsstravaganza

Farmer Girl is getting upwards of 20 eggs a day now. Our hens had really decreased their laying until we added more light. Now their light comes on right around dark and stays on until 10 or 11. Apparently, hens are supposed to get about 15 hours of light to continue laying. We also added a red light for heat. It's so funny to stand in the yard after dark and look out at the henhouse. It looks so eerie because the red light glows through the windows and the cracks. Farmer Girl is able to sell some of her eggs at our homeschool co-op and makes just about enough money to buy their feed! Not quite the money maker, she thought it would be! :) She still loves to go out and collect the eggs. They sure are yummy to eat too.
