Saturday Morning Clean Up!
We spent some time Saturday morning doing some clean up in the house. We didn't do much though as that is a part of their bid AND we didn't really relish inhaling drywall dust which covers EVERYTHING! This is the view from my hallway towards the living room (which is NOT drywalled yet!). See the mess and dust? We did clear this up a bit so we could move all the roll-able stuff in the living room into the kitchen. We wanted to make their time in the livingroom as effective as possible :)
Farmer Girl was in charge of using the magnet to clean up all the drywall screws. They apparently pull them out of their pockets and if there is any bit of anything in them, just discard them. We don't want them to go to waste so we cleaned them up. Here she is working in my bathroom...........notice the "hoodie" to keep her warm? It is much warmer in the house with all the insulation, but it is, after all, still winter.
The Scribbler worked with her dad in the Spare Oom (so named from Narnia). He had to build some frames to be drywalled that will serve to be inserted into the wall allowing access under the eaves. This room is completely drywalled and doesn't need much to be completed. Bob said we could finish it up rather quickly and allow the girls to stay in there while we finish up elsewhere. After texturing, we can paint, put in the heater, add a door with trim on it and on the window, and, voila, it would be done! :) What color, do you think?
This is the other room upstairs that is complete, Farmer Girls. She is in the midst of trying to figure out which colors (she thinks pink and orange) and trying to determine which part of the wall or which wall gets which color! It looks so light with the white.
Downstairs they have begun to mud the screw holes and you can see the stripes on the wall. THAT and some clean up was all that was accomplished on Thursday as the weather this week has played havoc with our electricity. Two times we lost power-the first it was back on in time for their arrival at 630 AM, but the second time, it was still out so they left :( They have also had some issues with their staff-injuries and hunting time...........
This is our mudroom/laundry/crafting space. Below is the same room with the awkward under the stairs space. This space holds our water heater, boiler, manifold, radiant heat controls etc. and will eventually, I hope, be enclosed........Bob wanted to be able to access it easily at this point or at least until it is all completed. I just hope it all fits!
The guys are predicting being done hanging sheetrock by Wednesday....a little later than expected. They initially said three weeks to complete the job, but with the holiday and the other delays, who knows? We are still praying for completion by the 4th so we can tile the area for delivery and installation of our woodstove on the 7th of December. Will keep you posted.

You've been a busy blogger tonight! Your place looks great! As for color in that spare oom...(love that) Do you have furniture that goes in there after the girls are done using it, like a bed? Maybe a quilt that is going to go on the bed? I would use that for inspiration, but if you don't...I would choose one of those lovely blues you have picked out-calming that would be and since WA is so gray during the winter, it would be cheerful too!
