Our First Wall!

Hurrah! Our first wall went up today. All activity stopped while we watched them lift this one up into place. This wall is the craft/mudroom/laundry room North wall. They put it together very quickly (much quicker than we could have done so we are easily impressed) The other thing they did different that we didn't do when we built the garage was to nail on the OSB BEFORE putting the wall into place. We could never have lifted it with the OSB attached. There are only two framers but they are using that big blue machine for the lifting; ours was all manual.

We were glad the weather had improved to allow some progress as yesterday and most of the weekend was rainy and windy. However, as the day progressed, the rain came again. It's been very wacky weather with rain, then sunshine, then rain again. By late this afternoon, it was pouring. The big blue machine made a mess of The Chef's wonderful backfill and grading job. It is just a quagmire of mud out there. VERY nasty. They were able to get one more wall up--the Master Bedroom one on the south side or front of the house. You can see the difference in the later picture with the mud and the HUGE tracks. Soon, I won't be able to see our driveway from our current living space.......will keep you posted.
