Heads Up!

Last weekend, we had the opportunity to spend some great family time with one another as well as with friends from our homeschool co-op. Every year, we have a Field Day or Family Day to commemorate the end of another successful year. We combined camping for two nights with this and enjoyed an additional amount of time with friends who did the same. The location had lots to enjoy from tidepooling, hiking, biking, exploring bunkers as well as swimming for those who dared. The weather was ideal, even a bit too hot the first day. That night the wind blew in and cooled things down a bit, but it did not rain on us which was a blessing. We enjoyed time walking around with friends and visiting. The kids had a great time playing Capture the Flag, basketball and volleyball with a soccer ball!
Family Day dawned cloudy and a bit cool. Around 10'ish as we broke down our camp, families started arriving with kids in tow, with games to play and with food for the potluck. We had a great turnout-over 50% of our families represented. It was great to be together and see so many dads able to be there. The smaller children played with their dads or their siblings and friends on the playground. Some joined in an impromptu soccer game. The teens engaged in a boys vs girls volleyball game with a real volleyball this time. The girls shared a basketball court with the guys in half court basketball. Frisbees were flying and heads were up to catch basketballs and hit volleyballs flying at them. Yearbooks arrived and were great fun to look at to reminisce over the year. Some enjoyed beach time and some spent time on a hike (actually it was quite a hike just to go to the bathroom!) The food was great and the fellowship really special. It was so wonderful to see everyone enjoying being together. We are truly blessed to be a part of this wonderful group of Christian families.
