.....Bouncy Bouncy. Those are the names of Farmer Girl's bedroom paint colors-think Tinkerbell pink and Tigger orange! She chose these colors months ago against our better judgment. We took the plunge and bought them on Thursday to prepare for painting on Saturday. She invited three friends over for a "Painting Party". Bob and our neighbor painter friend sprayed the recommended primer tinted with gray in both The Scribbler's and Farmer Girl's bedrooms. It was much darker than what I thought "tinted" meant. Their rooms looked like caves.......Needless to say, the pink did not cover over the gray as well as expected or anticipated. The first and only gallon of pink was used up and we still had part of a ceiling, a wall and a second coat to do! We did the orange, but ran out of it as well and it looked worse, kind of a puky orange (sorry no picture of that yet). We had tried to convince Farmer Girl to consider other colors knowing it would take more to cover being such bright and vibrant colors. To counteract we had purchased the more expensive Benjamin Moore Aura relying on their claim to cover in one, maybe two coats.

However, it was necessary to purchase one more gallon of each color that afternoon to continue. This is really eating into her budget (she was warned that if it took more paint than a room her size would take in a normal coverage color, that she would have to pay for the extra.) and we are regretting this decision as is she! I am sure some of it is the dark tinted primer. Thanks to a mistake the paint store made we also gained an additional gallon of a darker, brighter pink FOR FREE that she was going to use for accenting or for inside her closet. However, we had to use it it for the wall not yet painted. Our current status is that all walls are covered with a second coat except one side of the ceiling. We have about one quart of Tink Pink left and one quart of the mistake pink- not enough of either to cover the ceiling adequately. The orange still looks puky with gray showing through and we have less than half a gallon. We are really in a quandary as to what to do now. We considered mixing the two pinks which would leave her with three shades of pink in her room. Not her desired outcome! And it looks like we may have to buy more Bouncy Bouncy. Not my desired outcome due to cost! Any ideas? This is turning into a costly mistake :)
On a more positive note, she loves it and has a matching comforter and pillows all ready. She is so excited. Once it is done, it will be very cute and fit her and her personality perfectly.
Good night, Ellie~
Just keep painting...just keep painting...just keep painting... How expensive is expensive? I don't like to pay more than 18.00 a gallon, and to me that's expensive!! I'm glad she's excited! You are good to let her decorate it and express her self that way! :o)
